Sean is a UK qualified barrister fluent in four languages (English, French, German and Spanish).

With more than 25 years experience in EU governance, administration and processes as well as in international administration, consultancy and the corporate mining sector, he is focused on strategic advice and advocacy in reputation management, sustainability and multi-sector partnerships for public, private and not-for-profit corporations in achieving impactful outcomes.

In the 1990s he was a consultant operating from Quito, Ecuador identifying and implementing improvements to the financial and operational infrastructure for clients in Latin America including two gold mining projects in Mexico.

With five years spent at the European Commission in Brussels as Head of Section working on a technical assistance programme, this included his providing guidance and support to the governments of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania both pre- and post-accession to the EU.

In other roles, he has advised the CEO and Board on political and public affairs strategy for a Toronto-listed company, working on issue resolution and ESG matters as well as government relations and media communications for their flagship gold and silver mining project in Romania.

He also managed regulatory affairs at Glencore International in Zug where he supported licences to operate for its nickel and cobalt divisions.

More recently, he was an OECD delegate (2018/19) in Paris working on responsible mineral supply chains in Africa.

As lead expert in EU processes, Sean was instrumental in developing an advocacy process enabling European nickel producers to successfully qualify for the first time for state aid under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme starting in 2021.
