Pharmaceutical

We have worked with Pharmaceutical companies around the world, including one of the world’s largest.  We have supported them in a number of non-technical risks areas; including  a country entry risk assessment for an Asia Pacific country with high levels of political, corruption and cyber risk, including from organised crime, with associated reputational risks. In another instance we advised the company’s Internal Audit function in a review of their global security function; resulting in material changes to the way the function was managed and resourced.

PHARMACEUTICAL – RISK ASSESSMENT – ASIA PACIFIC

CHALLENGE

The Client was close to finalising a deal to provide  support to a government health agency in the Asia Pacific. There was concern that this deal would threaten vested interests who had profited previously through fraud. The client’s exemplary reputation was critical for them and they were worried there would be a potential for direct or indirect (including cyber) threats to their executives, company and operations from elements behind the fraud who may wish to discredit them as an organisation, or intimidate them into abandoning the contract altogether.

The client sought to make an informed judgement whether to proceed with the deal and, if they did proceed, to provide assurance to their stakeholders and employees that the threat was understood and could  be managed.

SOLUTION

Working with a local partner we assessed the threats from political interference, insider threats , organised crime and cyber attack.  We also made a number of clear recommendations on how these risks could be mitigated, including an independent review of the company’s risk assessment and controls regime, benchmarking against global best practice; community outreach and other vectors for influencing sentiment; cutting-edge technology to prevent and mitigate human risk and insider threats; physical security planning and preparedness; proactive intelligence gathering and network analysis; media and sentiment monitoring; penetration testing and red teaming and, lastly, strategic crisis communications to protect reputation.

OUTCOME

The client was given a clear and detailed assessment of the risks associated with the deal and a range of practical options to address them.

What our clients say

“Using their comprehensive approach, the Strategia team took us out of our normal comfort zone and helped us understand the full spectrum of risks the Estate faces, not just the financial and operational risks we have focused on in the past. In particular, they helped us understand the importance of reputational and cyber risks in our complex environment – and what we needed to do about them.”
