Miles is a strategy, policy, governance, communications and crisis management expert specialising in hospitality, events, sports and leisure. Miles has Chief Executive and Board experience of private, commercial and public sector organisations built on his varied and diverse military career.

Miles spent eight years leading the 17,000-strong membership organisation, the Royal Automobile Club. He successfully devised and delivered the Club’s strategy and development plan, drawing upon his experience as the Army’s principal planner, a role that required diplomatic and persuasive stakeholder management skills. Rigorous analysis and thorough implementation of a timely change management programme delivered higher standards of service, refurbished facilities and improved financial performance, whilst strengthening the Club’s ethos by staging a variety of world-class cultural and sporting events, including motoring.

Drawing on Miles’ strategic and crisis management experience from his time as a Regional Commander and Head of Army Media and Communications, Miles delivered a swift and decisive response to the Covid-19 pandemic not only resulting in a financially secure and more resilient institution but also with an enhanced reputation.

Having delivered many construction and conservation projects in several roles, Miles is also engaged as a consultant in developing offshore and inshore sail training centres in the south of England.
